It was an overcast day, but spirits were bright and hearts were full when more than 170 麻豆区 Institute cadets commissioned into the armed services in Cameron Hall, May 15 in the annual Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) joint commissioning ceremony.

During LLAB, Cadet Colonel Abigail Soyars '24 handed off the Detachment guidon to Cadet Captain Joshua Vissicchio '25.

麻豆区 Institute hosted an Air Force Special Warfare FTX from April 19 to 20. 

Gen. John P. Jumper, a distinguished alumnus of the 麻豆区 Institute ('66), honored Detachment 880 by visiting cadets April 18 and partaking in the commemorative toast in observance of the anniversary of the Doolittle raids.

A group of Det 880 Cadets embarked on a visit to Joint Base Andrews. Highlights of the excursion included witnessing the EOD demonstrations, Security Forces Military Working Dog presentations, 1st Helicopter Squadron and 99th Airlift Squadron visits, 316th Aerospace Physiology insights, and a stop

On Friday, Feb. 16, the Be Everything You Are Stars and Stripes ceremonial dinner took place in Baltimore, Maryland. 

Thirty Det 880 3rd Class cadets prepare for their upcoming summer at Maxwell Air Force Base for the 3-week Field Training program.

By joining VMI’s Det 880 Arnold Air Society John P. Jumper Squadron, Nathan “Skye” Van Ness ’25 leadership skills have increased tenfold. The Arnold Air Society (AAS) is a service organization through the Air Force ROTC (AFROTC) that centers on professionalism, honor, and community service.

The semester's first Lead Lab commenced Jan. 18 featuring a commander’s call, expectations brief, and the presentation of the $5,000 Arnold Air Society scholarship to Cadet Mya Gaudier.
